I was born on June 19th, 1980 and was raised in Berkeley, California. After developing a strong distaste for being told what to do and obeying my parents’ authority, I decided to enlist in the United States Navy following high school graduation. Apparently, I preferred being told what to do and forced to obey the authority of complete strangers, which although counterintuitive, has seemed to serve me well. After a few years jumping out of helicopters and scuba diving in Florida I got accepted to the Naval Academy in Maryland. After a quick stop at the Naval Academy Preparatory School in Newport, Rhode Island I arrived at the Naval Academy at the ripe old college-freshman age of 22.
